You Must See Prague

In the travels we've done, almost every place we'd like to go back again.  And there are a few places that everyone should experience at least once in their lives.  Paris, the Cotswolds, Shanghai, Spain.  And add to that list Prague.  This city greeted us with open arms and simply enraptured us.  We fell in love during the first hour here and it never stopped.

The Old Town Square

We started our day with a walk to the Old Town Square and a view of the Astronomical Clock.  The first mention of the clock in history was in the 1400's.

The Charles Bridge

Leaving the Old Town Square it was a short walk to the Charles Bridge.  This bridge, from medival times, was used by the king to travel from the square to the Prague Castle.  Walking over it, you can feel the history.

One historical event that we all are aware of took place here...

What's that?  You don't remember what happened here?  Oh, c'mon!  That's the bridge steps that Tom Cruise ran down in the first Mission Impossible!

Now you remember, don't you?

One tradition of our travels is the Sonja standing next to the police car tradition.  Check this one off our list.

Trdelnik

What's that?  You don't know what trdelnik is?  Well, it's fantastic.

Czech Congress

Not far from the Charles Bridge, we turned a corner into the Czech Congress complex.

Look at the size of the pigeons they have here...

And, of course, Sonja had to get into the act.

Another really cool feature inside the complex is the dripstone wall.

This is a statue of Hercules.  Notice the likeness?

After a few attempts at breaking and entering...

... and trying to hitchhike on a tram...

...we headed up to the Prague Castle.

Prague Castle

The castle is nice, but it isn't a Mar-a-Lago.

According to Sir Isaac Newton, what goes up must come down.

Folklore Traditional Dinner

After leaving the castle, we headed back to the hotel for a shower and clean up before our driver arrived to take us to our dinner.  I had chosen a traditional Czech dinner complete with live music and Czech dancers.

The second best part of the evening were the two new friends from Guam that we shared our meal with.  Elaine and Ron were friendly, funny and great dinner companions.

So You Think You Can Dance

Notice, I said the second best thing about the night.  Nothing could have topped this.

Girl's got some moves, doesn't she?

Views of Prague

Tonight we're doing a river cruise dinner with live jazz music.  And then tomorrow, we're off to Cesky Krumlov for the Rose Festival.
